Parrots are a popular pet bird because they are highly intelligent when socialized and undergo training. These beautifully-colored birds are popular pets for people, because they aren’t difficult to manage and they mimic many sounds, such as that of the human voice.

Mainly found in South America and in Australia, parrots come in a variety of sizes, colors and species, such as different types of “Lorikeet” like the “Rainbow Lorikeet“, “Green Naped Lorikeet”, “Blue Lorikeet” and many more. While some parrots are larger and look mightier compared to others, there are also those that are small in size and ordinary looking birds.

What make parrots really interesting compared to others is their colorful feathers, most parrots have different colors in their body parts and feathers, but the most common or dominant color in all of them is green. Depending on its species, some types of parrots come in multi-color shades that are usually a great combination of bright white, yellow, and green hues.

Aside from its color, parrots are also characterized for possessing great hooked bills and feet that are perfect for climbing trees. The majority of parrots live a vegetarian existence, preferring fruits and seeds, but there are some varieties that also eat chicken or other lean meats as well.

The most common species of parrots kept as pets are The African Gray, Cockatoos, Amazons and Macaws.
